The Twin Dilemma vs Time and the Rani

Both of these stories seem generally reviled by fandom and regarded as the worst Post-Regeneration stories of the Classic Series (though I know that Time and the Rani has one particular defender on this forum), but which is the worst story?

I honestly like both. Time and the Rani is one of my favourite stories of all time and Twin Dilemma is a top half Baker story in my opinion.

I voted Twin Dilemma. They're both awful and both a depressing slog, but Twin Dilemma I think is the more abrasively bad story with absolute knock-out moments of pettiness and stupidity (namely episode one's cliffhanger).

It's a lot funnier than TATR.

I accidentally voted Twin Dilemma before I read the thread properly.

S24 is the nadir of Classic Who and was responsible for death of the series.

How is Time and the Rani worse exactly? It looks better, it sounds better and the villain is far more interesting. TATR is so much faster and more dynamic in every single department.

Season 24 was not responsible for death of the series. Making such absurd and  bullshit claims like that leaves you open to obvious and throughly deserved ridicule.

Season 24 did indeed get better ratings than 23.

And yes, it's nowhere near as shite as Trial either...

Indeed. McCoy bashers are renowned for attempting to skew the facts when it comes to talking about the "death" of the series.

It still continued for two more years after Season 24 so na.

And 25 was an even bigger success ratings-wise, even in the death slot.
26 could have been too, had they given a fuck.

The writing was on the wall by S23, but the quality of the reprieve that was S24 sealed its fate.
The moves they made in the right direction to change the tone, and  steer things away from the death knell that was S24 were too late.
If they'd gone in from the start with the likes of Remembrance and the improvements in tone of S26, then maybe it might not have received the amount of flak that it received, which could've saved the show. But we'll never know.
As it was the fatal damage of S24 had been done.
I know it's hard to live with knowing that your favourite season killed Dr Who like a slow poison, But hey never mind, Pepz. You can take heart from the fact that 17 years earlier, S7 did the exact opposite and saved the show from extinction, going on to deliver the highest quality period of the show which peaked in the mid-'70s.
