The GallifreyOne convention over the weekend showed some new clips of the Fury from the Deep animation and also disclosed some new titbits about the animations in general.

Contrary to previous statements that some stories were unlikely to be done because of complexity - many of the Hartnell historicals in particular - the animators are saying that all the missing stories now could be done (though obviously they won't unless sales stay good).

The budget for the animations is going up. In addition to offering colour and black and white versions, the animations will also be in either widescreen (for the colour version) or 4:3 for the black and white purists.

If so, this is marvellous news, and something of a relief after the current NuWho debacle. How excellent it would be to experience as much more echt Doctor Who for the first time in a sufficiently restored manner as this.

I really like these animations and so what you have have reported here is excellent news. If they could stretch the budget to Evil of the Daleks or maybe Dalek Masterplan I'd be over the moon.

Me too. I'd buy those straight away, as I did 'Power'. Cool

There's 3 animations I want more then any other.

Dalek's Master Plan, The Celestial Toymaker and The Abominable Snowmen

For me it would be Masterplan, Evil, and Wheel in Space.

What happens in that one?
I've never been able to stay awake long enough to find out. Wink

I don't remember much about the extant Space Pirates episode myself.

Never heard the full soundtrack but what visuals that do exist indicate at least the special effects in this one look decent enough. And even something as potentially unexciting as this story though still might be wonderful to have animated as a 'new' Who release - especially when compared to the dire shite that is officially 'New' Who these days LOL

The most iconic thing that happens in that serial is a guy boiling an egg LOL

The top 3 I'd like to see animated next: Evil, Wheel, Abominable Snowmen.

I like Space Pirates. I like every story in season 6.

I liked the animation in Power. My only complaint was that there was no 4:3 option.

Kind of annoying that they'll spend money putting packages like this together when there are still so many missing stories to animate.

Here's Charles Norton from the Time Space Visualiser earlier today including the now non-inclusion of the audio narration of The Smugglers

At around the 7 minute 30 mark Charles Norton says:

The Highlanders is highly unlikely to be animated due to its complexity.
_______________________________________________________

A few minutes later he says:

The Highlanders (audio) will be included on a future release.
________________________________________________________

The Power film trims from Derek Dodd's collection will also be included but in some cases slowed down and looped to make them watchable.
_________________________________________

Main changes to animation will be in episode 1 and to Lesterson in episode 5.

I think that's the vid where he says Fury and another Troughton will be out this year. I think he hints at UWM. It's because Pat would have been a hundred this year

New additional material includes:

Two new documentaries about The Power of the Daleks
1993 BBC audio version of The Power of the Daleks narrated by Tom Baker
Raw incidental music
Photogrammetry Featurette
Whicker’s World – I Don’t Like My Monsters to Have Oedipus Complexes
Daleks – The Early Years: A 1992 documentary presented by Peter Davison
Robin Hood – 1953 Episode: Patrick Troughton’s earliest surviving TV appearance
BBC archive footage from BBC regional news, BBC Breakfast, Blue Peter and Newsnight
Previously unreleased animation trailers and animatics
Easter Eggs

I am still not buying it again but the Whicker's World ep looks interesting

I perfectly understand fans not wanting to be fleeced again by the BBC - the original animated version was released less than four years ago and yet we're now getting a TPOD Special Edition. Shouldn't they be putting their efforts into reanimating all the other missing stories first?

However, like yourself, I''m intrigued by the Whicker's World documentary and some of the other extras, so yes, I will probably buy this again.

Oh, and I heard somewhere that the Troughton Robin Hood Ep isn't the full episode-  just extracts.

No episode of the show exists in full sadly. Eight minutes of episode two is all that remains and I assume they will put all of that footage on the DVD. I believe the series went out live.
