A different thread for general classic who on blu ray, as it seems likely they're carrying on.

Michael Cochrane was apparently at at a con yesterday. Someone asked how he enjoyed working with Peter Davison and he allegedly said he actually met up with him, Janet Fielding and Sarah Sutton at the filming locations last weekend and filmed something.
Season 19 for the next Blu ray then.

The new DWM reveals that the next Blu ray classic set is, to no one's particular surprise, season 19, out on November 19 in the UK.

Haven't bought 12 yet...

I've already seen people mention they won't buy it because with the new logo on it, they believe all the interviews and 'extras' will be SJW crap that they don't want anyway.

I just don't feel like giving the BBC my money any more. Their loathing for the old series and older fans is quite plain and apparent... but they still want our cash for the same old stuff recycled yet again while making and spouting garbage.

Is it terrible that I'm waiting for the uber disgruntled fans to start selling their stuff on e-bay so I can finally afford to pick up the videos?

Cory Pullman, who played Kathleen Dudman in The Curse of Fenric, has been interviewed by the Blu ray set team, giving a strong indication that, as per previous rumours, season 26 will be the next Classic Blu ray season set after 19 (in November) and 10.

I just hope it includes the original VHS SE of Fenric. If so, that I'll buy.

Catherine Schell has been interviewed by the Blu ray producers, strongly suggesting that season 17 is coming sooner rather than later. So 10, 26 and 17 next year?
That's almost tempting.

Dr Who Online confirms the release date for February 25 2019 (so it is the next) and says the release also includes the spin-off K9 and Company, with Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith (which was broadcast between seasons 18 and 19, of course). Smile

They're having a laugh if they think I'm going to give them any more of my money.

I'm not getting them either, way too steep, and by the time they're finished, blu-ray will be outdated (maybe even all physical media too)

If it's anything like the Season 12 set then it may quickly be hard to get hold of anyway - Season 12 box set is currently listed on Amazon UK at £250 LOL

Mght have been interested in acquiring blu-ray versions of classic seasons except I've already shelled out for most of the same stuff on dvd!

And, while I'd have liked optional new special effects option on Revenge of the Cybermen for instance even that won't tempt me at the cost of getting a load more of what I've already paid for before and now at such a preposterous price!

Got the Season 19 Blu ray set as a belated Xmas present today. I didn't get season 12, but got this for Xmas and thought I'd have a look to see if the Blus are really worth buying the series again for. I'm not convinced tbh. If you're a newbie, and you haven't already got the series on DVD, sure. But I'm not that into extras and, most importantly, I couldn't see a lick of difference in PQ.

For the money these cost, I could get an awful lot of 60s, 70s and 80s Blu rays of movies I don't already have...

Any decent Blu-ray player these days will have DVD upscaling technology. From a few metres away, the difference is negligible. I'll always take the best I can get, but I'd never pay more than £5 extra for the Blu-ray version of anything.

As for Classic Who, I resent buying anything with Chibnall's feminist logo plastered on the cover, and I don't trust the current BBC not to inject SJW bullshit into the extras, so the old DVDs seem like a safer bet.

Well, that's a little daft. There is a world of difference between some movie Blu rays and some old DVDs, especially when it comes to older films. But I had the DVD and Blu rays of this playing side by side on different players and was flicking between them. Zero difference to my eyes....

I haven't any money. I did manage to get an Anneke Wills picture book for a relatively low price. She is such a wonderful lady although her blatant uninterest in William Hartnell is apparent. Poor bloke isn't even mentioned or seen in the book at all. What's worse is that David Tennant is in there.

And they filmed a pilot for a Jo Grant spin-off to promote it! Wink

(this also serves as a co-promotion for her Torchwood adventure "The Green Life", it also deals with The Maggots)
