Here's the place to discuss the Ratings Machine, and 45th POTUS, Donald J Trump.

I'd like to state for the record my opinions on the Donald once and for all. I do not like him. I think that he is a right wing A-Hole. I am a socialist and thus obviously to the left of the Republican Party in general.

However I still say that I am glad he won over Hillary (they were the only two choices at that time its pointless to say "I would have preferred Bernie" as he was never an option due to the crooked system whose power Hillary's win would have cemented BTW as she was their candidate.)

I've been over my reasons for disliking Hillary before. They are mostly due to her foreign policy, so rather than restate them I'll just post these videos from other left wing people who wanted Trump to win over Hillary. Everyone from a Marxist, John Pilger, to a Socialist, George Galloway to a classical Liberal, Sargon of Akkad. They sum up 95 percent of my reasons.

Now that Trump is in power I think the hysteria around him has been ridiculous, and hypocritical.

It makes me sick when people say he is worse than George W Bush, not because I like Trump, but because its unbelievable that people would actually long for the tenure of a man who started a war that killed over a million people and left the bodies of his own people to rot after a natural disaster. A travel ban (which Obama also brought in too) is apparently worse than "Operation Shock and Awe"!

IMO Trump is lucky in that the bar has been set so low for him to be remembered as a great President who exceeded all expectations. To start with its been set so low by his 5 immediate predecessors, Reagan to Obama. All should have been/be on trial for crimes against humanity. If Trump doesn't launch an illegal war then he will automatically be better than they were.

Added to that the ridiculous hyperbole around Trump has also made it easy for him to succeed. All this he is Hitler, he will round up all LGBT people and kill them. Again all he has to do is not be Hitler LOL and he will prove the majority of his critics wrong. Its never been easier for a President to silence all his critics and be better than his predecessors. Maybe he will fail, but still even if he does cause a war then he is merely as bad as his predecessors not worse.

I have to say, whatever you think of him and his politics, the absolute ridiculous bile and endless campaign against him by the mainstream media is just disgusting. As for Hillary well you got me there. Clearly I hate Hillary because she is a woman. Not at all for the following reasons.

The fact that she supported the war in Afghanistan which has also lead to the deaths of over 1000 people.

The fact that she called black people super predators, and has more crooked and dodgy deals than fucking Lexl Luthor.

You're mostly right.

The only thing Trump had going for him was his non intervention policy in Syria and his promise to smooth things over with Russia and pull out of the middle east in general. Trump being opposed to SJW's obviously was not really that important(though their meltdown when he lost was absolutely glorious to watch.)

Sadly however as we all know Trump has turned his back on his non interventionist policy in the last few months.

Still even then Hillary would have done the same things he would have. And no that's not just a guess, she said she would have here.

Thus if Trump does continue to fuck up in Syria it will more be a case of "well Trump was no alternative after all" rather than "if only Hillary had won".

Still I suppose one good thing to come out of a Trump victory is that it was a massive fuck you to the mainstream media and the corrupt members of the Democrat party. Had it not been for them Bernie would have been the Democratic candidate.

Losing to a fool like Trump is such a humiliation that in the future, whilst I am not saying they will pick a socialist candidate like Bernie, they will have to pick a candidate that at least has some rapport with the people. Thus in 4 years time it could be a genuinely left leaning Democratic candidate against Trump who everyone will be sick of by then.

A Trump victory was a blow to the right in general in America in the long run. A Hillary victory meanwhile would have cemented their power. Hillary would have done all the shit Trump is doing in Syria and more. Plus her victory would have shown the mainstream media that they don't even have to pretend to be impartial, whilst the corrupt democrats would know they could pick the most warmongering and crooked candidate imaginable and still win through a little media manipulation.

Also the fact that everybody hates Trump means that unlike Obama he won't be able to get away with a lot of the shit he does either. As John Pilger pointed out, Obama was able to hide some of his worst fuck ups like Libya, drone strikes etc, behind a "I'm the first black President so my presence is automatically progressive" bullshit and it worked with people like Owen Jones. Similarly Hillary would have been able to use her "I'm the first female President" to make her presence seem like a step forward when it was actually a step backwards to Bush era war mongering.

Trump however is disliked and all of his shit is out in the open and criticised every day so again things are easier with him overall.

The Trumps have their fingers in all sorts of pies and have been washing money for the Russians for years by selling them over-priced real estate, and vice versa by approving his shitty 'luxury' projects over there.

We don't have his taxes, we don't know the full scope of his dealings and the drip, drip, drip keeps on continuing, the excuses constantly evolving into a series of denials and then admissions.

They're acting like they're hiding something.

I don't think the Dems can win on this shit though. What they need to do is 1. Drop Pelosi and all the other corporates, and 2. put forward a true public option or expand medicade to all.
