Written and directed by Doug Naylor again...can't anyone take this off his hands and inject a fresh approach? He and Rob Grant were present for the filming of the AA Commercial mini-sode, don't tell me they could'nt get to talking just a little.

As for taping it in front of an audience...there have been a few comedies with feature-length specials that were filmed with audiences in mind. Only Fools did it on many an occasion.

Wait, it's first "special"? Did a Despair Squid make me hallucinate Back to Earth then?
Couldn't they afford a full series?

That aired as a mini-series before it was re-edited as a special

Here's hoping they finally get back to Earth proper.

My second favourite TV show of all time, but like nuwho the post Rob Grant episodes hold no interest for me.

And watching the resurrected Dave shows is like watching 4 bloated animated corpses going through the motions. Again like nuwho, I may have had more of an interest in it if Red Dwarf had come back as a reboot.

Yet again perhaps not. Without Rob Grant involved it wouldn't have been the same and in this day and age at least one member of the cast would have been a woman/gay or trans...

I'll stick to rewatching the glory years, series 1-3, when Rimmer didn't look like he was about to explode, Lister only had one chin and the Cat didn't look like he had just been neutered.

I watched it with my mother yesterday and we were nearly on the floor laughing at one point. Of course it doesn't compare to golden age Dwarf, but it was still good entertainment.

Not sure when we'll get it over here, but I'll watch it/buy it when we do.
