Best series 5 story

The best New Who season by far, but which is the best story? I’m going for The Time Of Angels myself.

Same, with Vincent a close second

It was a tough call with so many classic episodes, but I went for Vincent. Its not the best sci fi story, but it is an absolutely beautiful episode. It only works as a one off however. I definitely wouldn't want every episode to be like Vincent.

Speaking as someone who has suffered from severe bouts of depression, I think it portrayed a persons struggle with mental health problems brilliantly. It didn't sugar coat how rough it can be for the sufferer and those around them, but it was still very sympathetic and understanding.

It made a great point in the end about how what Amy and The Doctor did for Vincent still did matter. Even though in the long run he still succumbed to his illness, they at least made his life more comfortable. Every bit of help matters.

Of course nowadays we wouldn't get a story like this as Vincent is a fucking white male, who apparently got his white person happy ending.

Vincent and the Doctor, for the same reasons that Burrunjor has said. I also love Amy's Choice as well (given how I have a huge bias towards Season 23 and the Valeyard, of course I was going to love an episode that explores the Doctor's darker nature). Finale is great as well.

Time Of Angels/ Flesh and Stone is one of the very few half-decent New Series stories ever made. And there haven't been many.
Amy's Choice would be a pretty good second choice. That in itself already puts this season ahead of most New Who seasons, the fact it has two stories that are better the majority of the remaining NuWho shite put together.

Time of Angels. Great season, I like all of it bar VOTD and maybe The Lodger.
