Best season 14 story

I rate every story from season 14 highly, but which is the absolute best? I’m voting for The Deadly Assassin- one of the greatest and most well written Who stories ever conceived as far as I’m concerned.

Talons for me. Such a glorious story. The fact it pisses off the modern PC Nazis makes it even better.

Robots of Death.

Robots just pips Talons to the post.

Incidentally, Masque of Mandragora is the only Hinchcliffe era story that bores me terribly. I didn't even buy the dvd.

I’ve always rather liked it myself. The direction’s a little staid, and the ending isn’t particularly well thought out, but I’ve always enjoyed it. Certainly more than Revenge of the Cybermen, which I’ve always found excruciatingly dull and easily the worst Hinchcliffe era story.

Talons. The Peking Homunculus is so wonderfully grotesque.

Yeah, I like Masque. Hand is my least fave of the season by a long way. Only problem with Masque is the end is a bit "Eh?"

Agreed. Hand of Fear is my least favourite too, though I think that the first half is great. It just becomes increasingly pedestrian as it goes on, though Sarah’s departure is well handled.

I agree with that assessment, even though I find Masque to be the dullest of the two.

See, I don't mind Revenge. It's no classic admittedly, but I quite like it.
Christopher Robbie's rather camp cyberleader is nothing if not entertaining.

Hate to say it, but I’ve not been able to sit through the full thing in about 6 years. It features arguably the worst portrayal of the Cybermen in the original series, with only Silver Nemesis to rival it.

Dunno, I think they were the prototype for the 80s Cybs.

They certaintly were (especially with that ‘excellent’ catchphrase), and I’m not the biggest fan of the 80s Cybermen either, but they tended to showcase sufficient brutality at the best of times.

Yes- he does.

Must say I think the 60s Cybs are by far the best. Especially the Moonbase/Tomb versions with the completely emotionless voices.

I completely agree. They always vaguely unnerved me at a young age. They had some very atmospheric musical motifs as well.

The deadly assassin I love the story the battle of goth and the doctor in the matrix. The burnt master!

14 is one of those seasons where they're all good. I would say that Masque is the best, Face of Evil the runner-up, and Hand the weakest.
