Mark's a nice guy, but his writing and acting skills are mediocre at best.

I'm glad he got a few shakes at writing for the show, but I get the feeling that getting on the team of writers for Who is more an exercise in who you know, rather than how good you are.

Which also might explain the rather in-bred, recycling of the same tired, old tropes, absurd levels of continuity and obsession with appearing virtuous and 'hip' rather than writing compelling stories.
