Hi, has anyone got any favourite SCENES from the show's history? I have recently finished watching Frontier in Space, and it has one of my favourite Pertwee scenes of his entire era - when he is being interrogated with the mind probe. The Third Doctor's character is shown so well in this scene, and the way he grins when it breaks is marvellous.

The Doctor and Romana talking in the cell in State of Decay.
The Doctor seemingly turning on Ace in the climax to Fenric.

The scene where the 1st Doctor leaves Susan behind in the Dalek Invasion of Earth. The speech the Doctor gives is absolutely superbly written, and Hartnell's performance is just excellent. I also love the little sombre tune that plays at the end just after the TARDIS dematerialises and Susan just kind of awkwardly stands around as she tries to internalise what the hell just happened.

It's just an all around beautiful and really well written scene.

When the Fourth Doctor first meets Romana in 'The Ribos Operation':

ROMANA: Very exciting, isn't it?
DOCTOR: Yes, I suppose it must be for someone as young and inexperienced as you are.
ROMANA: I may be inexperienced, but I did graduate from the Academy with a triple first.
DOCTOR: I suppose you think we should be impressed by that, too?
ROMANA: Well, it's better than scraping through with fifty-one per cent at the second attempt.

Smashing stuff. Big Grin

Second Doctor comforting Victoria in Tomb of the Cybermen.

Third Doctor chewing out the Controller in Day of the Daleks (both times though my favourite bit is when he calls hims a Quisling.)

The Doctors confrontation with Davros where Davros tortures Sarah and Harry.

The Doctors confrontation with Sutekh (Gabriel Woof's voice is amazing.)

Have I that right, obviously.

William Hartnell beating up the Roman assassin. I love the way he enjoys it and his boast about teaching the Mountain Mauler of Montana afterwards.

6th Doctor smothering Shockeye to death. Shockeye really is the vilest villain, so you're just waiting for it, but it also sums up what I love about the Doctor. He's a practical hero who doesn't mess about. He will kill if need be and not have any regret.

7th Doctor's convo in the cafe in Remembrance about changing history.

Hartnell wanting to explore the city. I love how childish he is and the last little laugh he does when he holds up the core.

IF WE FIGHT LIKE ANIMALS WE'LL DIE LIKE ANIMALS!

5th Doctor in the cliff hanger showing the Doctor not giving up to save Peri. Peter Davison's "I'm not gonna let you stop me now" is the antithesis of Tennant's whiny "I COULD DO SO MUCH MORE!"

Jon Pertwee sword fighting with Delgado. I love the humour "I wouldn't do that if I were you, that's government property."

Finally above all else, Peter Capaldi's speech about kindness to Missy and John Simm. I just love the way Missy is so moved by it and wants to run off with him. If only she had just gone with him there and then. I cried when she didn't Sad

No, I think he's being 100% serious. I myself was also moved by that incredibly powerful speech that totally wasn't corny or overly sentimental in the slightest.

I have to say not to turn this into another bash New Who thread, but I think it was appallingly acted too. I normally defend Capaldi as he is a great actor, and 99.9 percent of the reason his era sucked was the writing.

Still I don't think he delivered these speeches well at all. TBH that guff sentimentality porn didn't suit him. His Doctor should have been the old Jon Pertwee, William Hartnell drill sergeant, telling guys of my generation to stop crying and being wimpy and get on with it.

Instead Mofftwat didn't play to his actors strengths.

He looks so terribly lost and confused in that scene. I think even he knows he's spouting complete nonsense. Capaldi will always be Malcolm Tucker, not the Doctor.
