I've been watching an Unearthly Child on Daily motion. I was watching the opening scene with Ian and Barbara in the classroom talking about Susan, and something just clicked. The dialogue was so natural. It felt like a real conversation, not some scripted quip nonsense.

I'm trying to remember when was the last time DW actually had anything close to such authentic dialogue, but I can't.

When do you think natural dialogues ended in DW?

After the Sixties. The little fluffs and people talking over each made the conversations in Hartnell's time seem so much more real. The dialogue became stilted in the Pertwee era for some reason. I can't even say that the McCoy era had natural sounding dialogue, not even in Remembrance.
