Uncle Terry
Almost all the giants of Classic Who no longer walk among us
This is devastating me. I grew up like everyone worth breathing reading his novelisations, of which there were so many, they were the backbone of this show in the days before home releases, and he made his mark on all of the iconic Doctors in small and large ways. He wasn't even above contributing to the modern range

RIP Terrance.
Devastated to hear this too. He was brilliant- one of the biggest contributors to the history of the programme.

Devastating news. RIP. He was responsible for casting and helping to shape my two favourite Doctors, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker and his dedication to the franchise went far beyond their eras too through his target novelisations. He had a good innings though and leaves a remarkable body of work behind.
RIP Terrance Dicks.

A formidably prolific writer, with a superb understanding of the central importance of The Doctor in all stories. A thoroughly decent man who modern writers can learn a lot from. A good sense of humour too. Part of the DNA of Doctor Who. Thank you so much for everything you did. Rest In Peace.

Another dark day for Who, with the passing of perhaps the last writer to actually understand the show and the central character.
RIP to a legend.

At least we still have Ben Aaronovitch.

Very sad news. Terrance Dicks was, in many ways, the godfather of Doctor Who and very much the archetype of the classic series writer/script editor; a stalwart, pragmatic BBC professional of the old school who did the job and did it damn well without feeling the need to congratulate himself for it.
"My job was to stop the television going blank for half an hour every Saturday night."
That combination of skill, dedication and self-effacement was what made great Doctor Who. We need him now.
