Really? It's been years since I watched it and I don't remember the song even appearing in that movie. They'd have been better off using the show version since it was better and was still only a few years old at the time.

I'd have understood redoing the song for the new movie since the show was so long ago, still a nice throw back, I guess.

I don't know if there's any truth to it, and I'd have to see the film again to see if it holds up in any way, but I read that the song cut out in the new movie before it got to "mighty morphin power rangers" because Fox still owns that trademark and including it in the lyrics would have cost more money.

My youngest brother is back from uni for easter and we went to see the movie today, it was a lot busier than the first time I saw it and today was a daytime screening. After some of the early Rita scenes a fairly big group of kids with a couple of adults walked out. I thought they decided it was too scary for the kids but they came back a few minutes later. I guess a few of them needed the toilet and they made them all go so one of them doesn't decide they also need to go five minutes later or something.

Seeing it a second time made me see that Kim was a shitty person. She spread an underage nude photo of one of her closest friends around the school and then at the end when she's supposed to be a hero starts laughing because of her ex-friends car got wrecked. "That'll teach you." For what? Not wanting to hang around with a psycho? If it does well enough for the sequel to happen they need to fix her... and the zords.

I've also been playing the Legacy Wars tie-in game and it's pretty fun. A very simple fighter game with a decent amount of timing and strategy if you want to win. Still has the usual pay to win bollocks that comes with free mobile/tablet games though.

The movie has been approved for a china release in May. A big delay but it should be a decent bump at the box office, giving us a better chance of getting a sequel.

Seeing it again Friday

Here's a drawing of the new red ranger I did. I'm currently colouring it. I don't have a scanner and had to take a photo at it so sorry for the distortion caused by the angle and lower quality.


I'm also starting work on my own Power Rangers movie script. I used to dream of being an established writer/director and being able to do the first reboot of the show, that can't happen now but at least the movie was good... There's still Beetleborgs. I was going to try to use my version to start a Power Rangers RPG (already made the forum) but that'd need players and I'm still trying to figure a system out for it with levels and upgrades and xp.

Very good drawing. I'm not so keen on RPGs, but you could always go to Rangerboard or Rangercrew and see if you can recruit anyone there

Like I said, I'm still trying to figure out how the game would work. I might go there to try and get some players to test it out when I'm ready, thanks for the links.

My fucking phone died and I had to get a new one today. I was hoping save files in apps would be linked to google play accounts but nope, so I have to start again on Legacy Wars. All my progress and crystals and coins gone, all my leveled up rangers including some that are rare. Bastards.

Turns out I was right the first time, I connected to the google play account and got my save data back. I'm so happy I could fuck an egg.

Did you read about the apparent cast list for the 25th season? Looks like we might be getting half of a Zeo/Turbo reunion with Adam, Tanya, Kat and Tommy among others

I haven't but my copy of Aftershock arrived today. I'm a little annoyed that a good chunk of the book is a "preview" of the first issues of Boom's Mighty Morphin comic. I've flicked through it and the art work looks nice enough, will probably start reading it tomorrow.

I hope volume 2 of Mighty Morphin arrives soon, I ordered it on the 27th and the estimated deliver is still 12-29th of April, it still hasn't been dispatched.

Lord Zedd and the green ranger have just been added to Legacy Wars in a new patch. They've also added a theater mode to the menu but it is currently unavailable.

I bet the people who spent £10 on the green ranger when it was the only way to get him are annoyed.

The DVD with only include the commentary, deleted scenes, and outtakes. Release date is 27th June in the US.

My copy of BOOM's Mighty Morphin vol.2 arrived over a month after I ordered it and I read it in one go. A little disappointing after the first book but it was still solid. I thought it was going to end on the reveal of the new evil ranger but it ended with the team getting the green ranger powers. Guess I'll have to wait to read the most hype-worthy part.

Trailer commentary? That'll be trail-blazingly short unless they pause the screen for certain moments

It's also looking like the 25th anniversary episode will occur mid-series next year in Super Ninja Steel, apparently it's the tenth episode

I'm expecting it to do ok in China, well enough to get the sequel going. I'd be surprised if they're not trying to make a thing of it having a Chinese actor as one of the rangers in an attempt to sell tickets.

The film is still to be released in Japan but I don't know how big Power Rangers is there since they have the originals.

Depending on how much of the budget was covered by Krispy Kreme's product placement and how much well the toys and merchandise sell, it's possible that Saban could make money on the film even if the film itself didn't do as well as he'd hoped and make a sequel. I mean, he owns the rights and is worth over $3 billion, if he wants a film franchise he can afford to do it and might be willing to do it as long as everything around brings in some profit.

Ninja Steel will premiere in the UK on POP in September.
