I got this post automatically marked as spam on a FB post:

For god's sake, the quick cutting and crash zooms were irritating and this idea is perfectly covered by racism. Honestly, if there is confusion over this it's because it's an unnecessary label that just confuses things. I say this as a leftie.

This over categorising is pedantic and just making the left look ridiculous.

The vid was about colourism. Most people would agree that Racism is bad but a lot of people can't seem to agree on what Racism is. This over categorising isn't likely to help but the trainspotting attitude to discrimination is reaching staggeringly ridiculous levels.

If you want to know what colourism is, it's discriminating against darker skinned individuals in the same race as you, i.e. black people discriminating against darker black skinned people. Sounds like racism to me.

The kid's TV presenter vibe from the people in the video didn't help either. Fuck wits.

I nearly married a woman from the Jamaican diaspora many moons ago. Spent 4 years living and working in the black community.

Can confirm 'colourism' is indeed a thing. Even some dark-skinned black people judge others by the hue of their skin. It's an odd thing to witness your friends complain of racism, then diminish the attractiveness of someone the same shade of brown as them based upon their colour.

Another paradox I experienced was watching mixed-race and black women in a group verbally attack black men on the television for choosing white partners. This was particularly galling when I was there with my ex, as they'd be perfectly fine with our interracial presence (in situ). It made us wonder what they really thought of us behind our backs.

She and I just used to keep our mouths shut and then unpick it all later.

I wouldn't deny that it's a thing but excessively labelling stuff means that less consideration is given to it. We can all agree racism is bad (most of us anyway) but it's a contentious topic cos we can't all agree what is and isn't racist.

What does this new label achieve that referring to it as racism didn't?

This link shows something that I wouldn't necessarily call racism but I would be forced to think about it in order to categorise it.

Does the below count as colourism? It certainly counts as barmy : -

And I'm a Lib Dem myself! Unless the audience can do what the General did in Hell Bent (and even then Vince'd have to shoot them, which wouldn't exactly be rewarding their attending) and change race/gender on the spot then I feel he's being racist against his own race.

Anyway, sorry if I derailed!
