As with Resurrection Of The Daleks and Attack Of The Cybermen, The Two Doctors is another polarizing story from 80s Who that tends to divide fans. Let's see your thoughts down below.

In response to the feedback on the Tomb poll, I have added more options.

I voted ‘good’. It’s a little padded, but the dialogue is typically Bob Holmes and constantly quotable and hilarious, the characterisation is largely pretty good (especially with the Androgums), and Colin works very well with Troughton whenever on screen together. In fact, compare and contrast how Colin interacts with Troughton with how Davison appears amongst the previous Doctors in The Five Doctors. He holds his own much more noticeably.

As I said, it’s a little overlong, and some of the direction is a bit crap, but it’s rather good overall.

Bad.
It's as dull as dishwater.
The Sontarans are crap in every way.
Frazer Hines is terrible.
Troughton is really it's only saving grace, but even he can't save the story from being far too high on the tedium scale.

Actually, I forgot how shit the Sontarans were in this. I’d probably rate it somewhere between good and mediocre if possible.

Just to add that I like Colin's Doctor, but he was saddled with some of the worst stories in the entire 26yr run.

I think it starts very strong, but somehow by the third part, ends up fizzling out in a very unsatisfying way. Also the eugenics angle, with the idea that Androgums are impossible to enlighten because of their racial genetics, does leave a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth. Overall it just feels a bit mean-spirited.

Of all the multi-Doctor stories during the classic run of the show this is the only one I have ever really liked. Colin's, Hines, Troughton's and Bryant's performances are all spot on for me. I also liked Pearce, Payne and Stratton. It was a very good cast.

As a card carrying geek i have never understand the way the story boldly states that the Time Lord's were using the Doctor as a sort of occasional special agent during the Doctor's second incarnation. Quite the contrary as i thought that at this stage the Doctor was on the run and hiding from them. That mattered more to me at the age of 20 than it does now.

One thing I didnt like was Shockeye biting the head off a rat. It was gross and added nothing to the story. Punch in the face for Eric for not editing that out.

I love it. It was my first classic story and I was completely mesmerized by it back in 2008. NuWho had not yet done a multi-Doctor adventure so it was really the first time I had ever seen two Doctors in the same story.

I love it, my second fave Colin. Not sure if it would make my top 20 but it's not far off. A gem of a black comedy thriller with some typically wonderful Holmes dialogue, a fantastically gross villain in Shockeye and Colin, Pat, Nicola and Fraser all being rather wonderful.
Wildly underrated.
