I've only got Spearhead, which looks great because it was shot on film. But from a visual quality point of view... are the blu ray box sets worth getting?

If you have the DVDs, I'd say no. The only one I got was the season 19 set, which I got for Xmas, and honestly unless you're into new extras I really don't think they're worth the money. I couldn't see any real picture quality improvement (in fact, I thought Earthshock looked rougher than the DVD!).
I might get 25 and 26 if they include the extended Silver Nemesis and the original VHS Special Edition version of Fenric respectively, but otherwise they just seem like a really expensive way of getting us to buy the same thing yet again...

Thanks. I was kinda curious coz I'd heard ages ago that Spearhead would likely be the only one worth bringing out on blu ray in terms of a significantly better picture quality.

Depends on how fanatical you are.
My interest in Who has waned somewhat in recent years. Classic Who occupies a sentimental place in my heart, but I'm almost beyond the stage where I can just sit and watch the same old stuff again and again.
I don't buy into this mantra that all modern TV is shit either. You're just not looking very hard in either direction. The majority of 60s, 70s and 80s TV was pretty throwaway too.
Personally, I'd wait until some knobhead on here has collected it all, then talk to them over the PM system.

Natively upscaled 480p content looks significantly better than 480p upscaled by a DVD/Blueray player.
If you look at the Youtube trailers for the sets, it's pretty obvious you're in for a cleaner experience.
Personally, I've always thought the more clinical look takes you out of the experience of watching the show a bit, especially if you're sentimental about such things.
Ideally, Who should be watched on an old, 1970s TV, sitting on an mildy-stained, brown couch; closely-guarding your glass of squash and packet of salt n shake.

I might get Season 10 and later Season 11. Though I do have to be sensible with my money these days.

On location videotape footage looks so clear and vibrant in 480p. Film footage pisses me off for some reason.

Cheers guys.
I'll probably get the ones I like, rather than be a completist about it.

Well I finally got the S12 set.
My step-daughter went to America to visit family and brought me one back for the equivalent in sterling of 32 quid. I haven't had chance to look at it yet, but will be doing shortly as it's a long time since I saw anything from this season.
Also, looking for to the Season 10 Blu-Ray which gets released over here next month.

I was gearing myself up for Vampires in Venice, but the postman has spared me that chore for another day.

Yeah if I had my way, the old VHS covers with the diamond logo would run forever.
