Polly?

What did you think of the character of Polly? Did you like her characterization and Anneke Wills portrayal of her or did you feel the opposite of that?

Perfect in every conceivable way.

Polly and indeed Ben were very cute. I really do think they're my favourite companions from the Sixties along with Steven. I'm actually sad that they didn't say for a bit longer.

She's okay. Cute, but most of her run is missing which doesn't help.
Find Ben a bit irritating though to be honest.

I don't find the pairing especially sparkling myself.

You can still experience her run through the animations, the reconstructions, the target novels and indeed the stuff that still exists.

I tend to prefer the ones that are more a match for the Doctor intellectually (Zoe, Romana, Nyssa). But I don't find Polly annoying in the same way I do Tegan (most of the time) or Sarah Jane (in season 11). Then, the only two stories of hers I've seen not in recon format are War Machines and 3/4ths of Tenth Planet. I probably actually liked her most in episode 1 of Faceless Ones. I'm looking forward to seeing her in the whole thing when the DVD finally comes out.

No, she's not annoying. She's just never really made a big impression on me somehow.

If anything he lays on the 'salt of the Earth' cockney geezer thing a little too thick. That said, he's one of the few main characters (in any serial at the time) who didn't speak with a plum in his gob. I mean, I'd expect the Doctor to be well-spoken, but it hardly lends credulity when the companions all sound like they were raised in a mansion in the Home Counties.

I don't make parody accounts to maliciously insult people. Most of the time the characters I parody are just moody bastards. I use their dialogue in appropriate situations and then do my own thing with them when I've used up all of their material. I suppose it goes back to a young age when I gained intense gratification from being teased by my female peers.

I absolutely love the scene in The Highlanders where she teases and mocks Ffinch in the pit. The idea of being ganged up on by two attractive women and being completely at their mercy is one of my fantasies. Mistress Polly can take money from me anytime she wants.
