The fate of the Time Lord has long captivated audiences, with Doctor Who fans eagerly anticipating each regeneration.
But Peter Capaldi has revealed he is leaving the show because he has lost interest in the plot lines and modern television audiences wanting ‘the same thing all the time’.
He also appeared to complain about the day-to-day routine of playing the Doctor, saying he had never done a job where you must ‘turn up every day for 10 months’

Did he really just unload on the audience? Do Moffat & co insist that they can't change things due to the whims of 'modern television audiences'?

If that's what modern audiences want, then why are the ratings crashing?

Capaldi just isn't making sense here. If he finds the plots boring, then how does he think the audience feels about it? It's smack-round-the-head obvious. It's reflected in the ratings. Modern audiences clearly don't like the way the show has gone, so to blame it on them is factually wrong.

He doesn't like the plots because the show's writers are stale and mediocre at best.

So he's either deluding himself due to some bullshit excuses he's been fed by Moffat, or he's trying hard to dissociate himself with the role, as he thinks it'll be harder to get the sort of work he wants if he doesn't.

I can't see any other reason for him to speak so wrongheadedly.

If you read the article, he really doesn't say anything about tired scripts, he just says that playing the role is essentially always the same, which is what all the Doctors have said. It's just the Daily Mail spinning it in a particularly negative manner.
