1 Fan Edits on Thu Feb 23, 2017 1:54 pm

Is anyone a fan? I've never really seen any outside of the Whoflix Power edit a few days ago. I did download an edit of the 2009 Friday 13th reboot a while back but deleted it without giving it a try.

There's a guy that does edits of Dragon Ball Z to cut down each season into movies. Season 1 is still 192 long. I'm thinking of giving that a try. Not a fan of Anime but I used to watch it in the late 90s-early 2000s, I thought it might be a bit of fun to revisit and see how it holds up but I can't be arsed watching over 60 episodes of it just for season 1.

I work on these all the time. I managed to alter Batman v Superman so Supes lives at the end, I have it uploaded to Vimeo presently, I can send it to you if you want. Also have a few Sherlock fanedits from series three.

Have you heard of the project that manages to cut down the entirety of the original Dragonball series into something like a 65-episode or so version? It might be worth checking out too..I heard he wants to get into the Z phase next.

I didn't like Batman v Superman but you can share the link if you want, it'd be interesting to see how the ending works.

As for Dragon Ball Z, I'm good, thanks. I made it about 50 minutes into the edit I mentioned above before I had to turn it off. That covered the Raditz fight and the introduction of Vegeta. Unfortunately it was something I should have left as happy memories. The dialogue and some of the voice acting was... shit. I couldn't take any more of any of it. I'm glad I tried that out before spending £20 on the season 1 DVD.

At least I can still look back on the Freeza and Cell fights without them being too tainted. Goku's first super-saiyan transformation. bounce

Yeah, yeah, I know, dated meme, but still, you have to laugh LOL

I don't think so, I was trying to listen out for it. The highest power level I remember hearing was 1300 and rising. I can't remember if that was Piccolo charging up his power cannon attack or when Gohan broke out of the capsule and cracked Raditz's armour with his head.

Ever seen the "Heavy Star Wars" edits? You can find the links on reddit. Most of the movies with the soundtrack replaced by rock and roll

No, but a while ago I did start watching some prequel trilogy mature edits on youtube. They were very well done and subtle in places from what I saw, the "banter" at the start of Revenge of the Sith was cut and rearranged slightly to feel more natural.

They were taken down before I could finish them.

The Anti-Cheese edits? I managed to save one of them before they got pulled, haven't had the time to look over it.

Someone also did a full on dub of the chinese subtitled cut of Revenge of the Sith, "Backstroke of the West", which is miraculously still up.

I don't think so. I saw some of those too and I'm sure they were different edits, there were a bunch of them. I'm almost certain they were called the mature edits or the mature cuts. With that said I could be completely wrong.

Why software do you use to make fan edits? I used to have Sony Vegas and After Effects but I never tried doing any edits, I just messed around trying to learn different visual effects like lightsabers and flying and shit.

I wonder if it'd be worth getting my hands on something againd and trying to cut down the first season of The Flash to a feature length movie with just the Reverse Flash as the villain. Or maybe even do a rogues movie with RF in the background to set up a sequel. I also wonder if a cut down version of the show would still be a better, more coherent movie than whatever WB/DC put out for the actual Flash movie.

If you've got a vision, I say go for it. I have seen some Flash "omnibus edits", but they left in some episode credits whenever a scene that had them cropped up...pretty lazy.

I use Sony as well and mainly rip my sources with Any Video Converter.

I currently have a thread at the TMNT Tehcnodrome forums covering my efforts to re-edit the 2016 Out of the Shadows sequel.

I wasn't fan of the first movie but I loved Out of the Shadows from the opening scene. It was like watching a bunch of the old cartoon episodes, just a shame that at times it felt like parts of the episodes were missing, it sort of jumped around and felt awkward when Shredder already knew Krang even though we've never seen him before and this Shredder wasn't even the same one from the first film.

The CGI also looked like it started to suffer at the end when the screen was busy with the technodrome.

Let me know when you've finished it.

I enjoyed the sequel as well, I'm just tightening it up a little and seeing how much of it can work by removing a critical sub-plot.]

It's definitely a great love letter to the old cartoon, and does it in a more simplistic and accessible manner than the fanservice of the Nick show

Better than the official trailer, that's for sure. I hate the DC movies so far but they've all had some pretty great trailers, for whatever reason everything they've put out for JL has been awful. Maybe that means the movie will be decent?

Crazy if that worked, maybe all the good fan edits of the trailer will jynx that? Surprised

Seeing a few on Youtube that use the original JL season one/two theme too

Good job. The fan film footage had lower sound quality, as to be expected, but other it was pretty seamless.

Thanks...I think the sound problem may have been my fault, I'll look into it, when I put it into the timeline it was considerably louder than the DVD sources I was using

New fanedit: This time for Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie

https://zaredit.wordpress.com/2017/04/07/turbo-a-power-rangers-edit/

In preperation for series ten, I have also fanedited "The Return of Doctor Mysterio" and reduced it to just 38 minutes, should be up mid-week.

I thought the volume was fine, it was just a bit tinny. I assume it's because it was from a fan film and didn't have the super expensive equipment, but since the footage looks like security footage anyway, it kind of works.
