Prisoners of Fate:

The first one I have listened to for ages and quite enjoyed it because it had a unique villain with unique motivations. Based on that old chestnut of you can't change the past which never made much sense as the future is just the past viewed from another direction. Still interesting and paradoxical.

Spoilery review here, http://docohobigfinish.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/prisoners-of-fate-written-by-jonathan.html

BF have got a special on, with stories from 51-125 of their main range reduced to $5 digital till next week. I've picked up 3 Colin/Peri stories, The Reaping (with the Cybermen), Year of the Pig and Assassin in the Limelight (the sequel to Medicinal Purposes, which I really enjoyed). Wink

Not really Doctor Who related but something to do with faction paradox. Stars Paul Darrow and it's a brilliant audio - better than most of BF's output Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I listened to Butcher of Brisbane yesterday as it's the sequel to Talons and it seemed to have a good reputation, but honestly, it just felt like it was going through the motions Arrow

Listening to The Reaping at the moment. Learning about the murder of a family friend - the father of her best friend - Peri forces the Doctor to take her back home to Baltimore, 1984. While Peri deals with "family stuff", the Doctor does a little digging and finds there's more to the murder than meets the eye. The Cybermen are in Baltimore - and whatever they're up to, Peri's loved ones are right in the middle of it.
This is pretty good so far. Col as great as ever, of course. Smile

Hopefully this will flop and teach BF a valuable lesson.

Hopefully it'll be a great success and BF will continue to make decent - not always stellar, but decent - audio adventures featuring the classic Doctors for us to enjoy.

DeadManRising

DeadManRising

The Sleeping Blood.

Set prior to An Unearthly Child. The 1st Doctor becomes seriously ill after pricking his hand on a poisonous plant whilst exploring some deserted, unknown planet. He then gradually gets weaker and weaker to the point where he can't even leave his own ship anymore. So Susan has no choice but to venture outside of the TARDIS all by herself to try and find some medical supplies for him before it's too late.

A fairly enjoyable story with an interesting setting, an intriguing main villain and some gripping narration. The early parts where Susan wanders through the seemingly abandoned research facility while being stalked by various security devices are great, and do a good job at cultivating a rather creepy and eerie atmosphere. Carole herself also does a great job with the narration, and manages to imitate her own voice from years ago fairly well so that she still seems somewhat believable as her younger self.

Good story overall. Would recommend it to everyone here.
