A short video (1 min and 24 secs) that shows volunteers trying to stop poachers after Brazil slashed its environmental budget by a staggering 43% amid their worst economic crisis for a century. This has left only 20 rangers to patrol an area a third of the size of Europe: https://twitter.com/ajplus/status/921702104057577475 Sad

Nice to see they haven't all gone batshit crazy, but I fear it's too little too late...

Self-styled 'paedophile hunters' revealed

Some of the leaders of self-styled paedophile-hunting groups operating in Northern Ireland have been identified for the first time.

There are increasing concerns about the methods many of the groups use, and their lack of accountability.

The so-called paedophile-hunting groups target people online who they believe are sexual predators.

They confront them and broadcast the encounter live on the internet, then call the police.

When asked if any of his actions resembled those of a vigilante, he replied: "Are you serious? Get out of my sight, leave me alone. Stay away from anybody that I have previously worked with.

"You are harassing people, I am not here to answer your questions. You are absolutely disgusting. Get out of my space right now."

Later the same day Mr Keenan led a group of people to confront BBC investigations reporter, Kevin Magee, in a coffee shop in South Belfast.

Mr Keenan claimed he had been able to mobilise more than a dozen people from various paedophile hunting groups.

Eyewitness account:
A mother-of-two has told of her terror when her home was mistakenly surrounded by a group of masked paedophile hunters.

The self-appointed gang surrounded the house in the Springfarm estate in Antrim in January, claiming a paedophile was living there.

But the group had made a mistake - they had picked the wrong house.

The 34-year-old woman, who asked not to be named, said she was "absolutely terrified" when members of the gang approached her home.

Her 66-year-old mother and two young children, aged seven and three, were in the house with her.

It wouldn't surprise me if half these vigilantes are fiddlers trying to build up an anti-pedo profile in case they get nicked for past misdemeanours.

"But your honour, I hate the kiddy-fiddlers! I put 20 of them away, your honour! It can't be me your honour!"

Can you imagine if one was convicted? The most unpopular inmate ever. Hated by general population, even more hated in the bunty man wing.

Clearly obvious these are lower class people. Should focus more on getting a job.

Most do it in their spare time as there's no way of monetising it.

I'm not in favour of vigilantism, but it isn't necessarily linked to worklessness, nor is being 'lower-class', as said 'lower class' people - on average - have longer working lives and harder jobs than the ruling classes and middle-classes.

If anything it's a symptom of the failure of the police to protect communities and purge CP and paedophile rings from the internet.

If you cut police budgets people suffer - and communities will react.

Niall Ferguson wanted opposition research on a student.Campus arguments over diversity and free speech are causing some distinguished academics to do extremely strange things. Ferguson, a historian affiliated with both Oxford and Stanford University and much celebrated for his books on the topics like the First World War and the British Empire, is a prime example. At Stanford, Ferguson had been a member of the Cardinal Conversations program which brought in guest speakers to the university. In that capacity, Ferguson was anxious about student criticism of some speakers such as Charles Murray, the social scientist notorious for his views on race and IQ who spoke at Stanford in February.

OK, it goes on...

Ferguson teamed up with a group of student Republicans, led by John Rice-Cameron, to wage a covert political battle against Michael Ocon, a student they viewed as excessively left-wing. In the e-mails they refer to Ocon as “Mr. O” and talk about ways to discredit him. “Some opposition research on Mr. O might also be worthwhile,” Ferguson wrote. Ferguson’s research assistant Max Minshull was tasked with the job of collecting the dirt on Ocon.

Clearly been brushing up on their Machiavelli recently.

But seriously though, a student? Jesus, just how fucking precious are they? LOL
