Interesting choice. I have been reading about Lenin and communism but haven't got onto Stalin yet. I suppose I would say Hitler as he is one of the more interesting/curious ones. Stalin was responsible for 60 million death compared to the Holocaust's 6 million so Joesf is clearly the bigger bastard. I reckon Franco or Mussolini could be interesting.

Bill Burr did a good bit about this in his latest special. This isn't the full bit but it's the only one with higher quality than a potato.

My favourite would have to be Kim Jong Il, purely because of the golf incident.
According to his biography, he first picked up a golf club in 1994, at North Korea's only golf course, and shot a 38-under par round that included no fewer than 11 holes in one. Satisfied with his performance, he reportedly immediately declared his retirement from the sport.

Also: He was suspected of killing his younger brother Kim Shu-ra when he was five after the child drowned in the family's swimming pool in their Pyongyang mansion. The claims were never proved.
Say what you want about him, at least he was working for his future at a young age. pirat

There's no denying Hitler was effective, but he was a little boring. You need some quirks in a dictator, a bit of levity to balance out the murder.

OK, new favourite and I am going to have to agree with our own glorious leader, Adam Ant Driver, that the North Korean dictatorship is the best because of this, http://www.cracked.com/article_17165_6-reasons-north-korea-funniest-evil-dictatorship-ever.html

Or more specifically, this, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulgasari

When he wasn’t busy scoring 3-4 holes in one every time he played golf or coaching North Korea’s soccer team via invisible cell phone, Kim Jong-Il was an avid movie fan, whose favorite films were said to be Rambo and Godzilla. He even wrote a book about filmmaking, On the Art of the Cinema, which contained such passages as:

“Actors must be ideologically prepared before acquiring high-level skills,” he writes, recommending a kind of communist method acting. “No revolutionary actor has ever actually been a Japanese policeman or capitalist . . . To effectively embody the hateful enemy, the actor requires an ardent love of his class and a burning hostility towards the enemy.”

Under the Sun documentary catches North Korea with its guard down

During a scene in “Under the Sun,” a North Korean minder orders uniformed workers to form a line on the factory floor before they speak on camera. “Say that joyfully,” orders the minder, a bespectacled, middle-aged man, as he prods the laborers to talk about how much they love their work producing soy milk.

What the minder didn’t realize, however, was that the cameras were already recording, and his pushy efforts to concoct an idyllic scene of industrial glee had all been captured.

“Under the Sun”, a feature-length documentary shot in North Korea, is a behind-the-scenes look at a poor country that casts itself as an abundant paradise, and a filmmaking coup of sorts. Director Vitaly Mansky spent two years negotiating with the North Korean government over permission to film a documentary in one of the world’s most inaccessible countries. Under the terms of their agreement, North Korea wrote the script and selected the subjects. Mansky and his crew were allowed to film only approved scenes in specific locations, and the North Koreans would delete any footage they deemed unacceptable [...], but in a risky move, in a country where foreigners who act out sometimes spend years in jail, the crew kept duplicate memory cards of all footage that they then snuck out of North Korea.
