We all know the show's pretty awful, so I thought I'd change things up by making a thread where we share episodes (that may be a stretch) or moments we thought were actually really good.

I didn't care for the series or the episode as a whole and the resolution to this plot was dogshit but I can't deny this was a great moment that got me hyped. The way it was shot, the sound design and surprisingly even the music were well done.

Shame the resolution in the finale also looked like blatant green screen.

Amy's Choice
The Girl Who Waited
Blink
Day of the Doctor
Night of the Doctor
The Doctor's Wife

Are ones that off the top of my head I really enjoyed and felt they were good not matter what era they were from. The Next Doctor was almost great if it wasn't for the daft Cybershades and stupid ending

There's plenty of decent stuff to cherry pick in the first six seasons. It's after that it all really goes to hell in a hand-basket.

Positive things about New Who would be the following.

Charismatic and engaging lead actors for the most part. Eccelston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi all good choices for the Doctor (even if the writing sometimes let them down or A LOT in Capaldi's case).

All also had great chemistry with their companions too (apart from Tennant and Rose who were a schmoopy couple and Capaldi and Clara who had 0 chemistry)

The run of episodes from series 3-5 is brilliant. A few duds along the way sure, but I'd consider that a high point in the shows history.

Series 5 is also one of the top individual series of all time in either new or old who.

Amy, Rory and 11 as good a companion/Doctor trio as Pat, Jamie and Zoe, or Tom, Harry and Sarah.

The Daleks were very well handled in the RTD era at least. They were written as the most powerful, dangerous and personal of the Doctors enemies.

John Simm's Master, though his stories weren't great (Utopia and The Sound of Drums are amazing, it all just falls apart in the last ep Last of the Time Lords with the AWFUL Jesus Doctor) I liked his performance and the characterisation of the Master was spot on, yet updated for a new audience.

50th anniversary special which is still one my favourite episodes (though its tarred a little by knowing what came after, Capaldi's eyes, and the finding Gallifrey story arc, was such shit and that Doctor Who thanks to the SJW's influence went from being a global phenomenon to a virtually dead brand in like 3 years. Hint; hint Marvel don't go down that road.)

Sadly however the Capaldi era is so earth shatteringly crap that at times I almost wish the show had never come back. In the past the good qualities of New Who for me always cancelled out the bad, but the likes of Cyber Brig, Pissy Missy, the Hybrid prophecy, Rassilon being a pussy, the Doctor being alive for 6 billion years, make me wish that this crowd had never got their grubby little mitts on our favourite show.

I did enjoy series 8, or perhaps more accurately didn't dislike it. Nuwho can't get worse for me than Love and Monsters and series 4.  pale Catherine Tate and the worst run of stories the show ever had, think the only ones I even found barely watchable was the Sontaran two-parter, and I had to look up a list of series 4 episodes to remember those existed. Looking up the episodes also reminded me of the Adipos.  Mad

Series 9 so far has been a big disappointment but there's still glimmers of hope shining through the logs of shit.

Why can't Osgood become the companion? Sad

I second that. She is so fucking cute! Ingrid Oliver who plays her is also a great actress.

Its a shame thought that she has been in so much shit. The only thing that she has been in that was good was Peep Show where she raped David Mitchell.

https://youtu.be/EtxK7wNUBPk Wish I was Mark Corrigan there! It would be worth it even with all the horrible stuff that happens to him if Ingrid showed you she liked you.

Someone cast her in something good so I can watch for more than just to oggle her please!

Shocked I didn't even realise she was in Peep Show.

Pearl Mackie can become a companion with only one previous tv credit to her name, it shouldn't be an issue for Ingrid Oliver.

It'd be a good decision to make Osgood a companion, so I don't expect it to happen any time soon. She's an already established character and the fact that we're talking about her and that they keep bringing her back shows she must be fairly popular with fans. She's smart without being obnoxious, gets into trouble and needs to be rescued without coming across as a completely helpless damsel in distress, and she's a Doctor fangirl without fawning over him. If that's not a recipe for success, I don't know what is.

Even better, she doesn't throw out quirky dialogue or quips every other line of dialogue. The fact that she plays the part well and has decent chemistry with both Doctors she's met is an added bonus.

I love RTD's era, so most of it gets a pass. Even the utter shite because Davies polished all of it with decent dialouge and character beats so it comes off as entertaining shit at the very least. He never did manage to stick the landing on finales (except Parting of the Ways, which has the more beleivable stakes)

Series Seven, the worst of an ever diminishing bunch, had Angels Take Manhattan, Bells of St. John and Crimson Horror, all of which I found very enjoyable

Day of the Doctor was supremely good...Time of the Doctor falls to bits at the end but is very ambitious in trying to tie up every loose end from Matt's era (a mistake I feel, as it left nothing much for Capaldi to be tested with)

Series 8 has Mummy and Flatline...a pity Mathieson could'nt deliver with his series nine story, even the best bit about it (The Doctor realizing why he chose his face) was probably written by Moffat.

Series 9 has the Zygon two-parter. Face The Raven, and Heaven Sent, aka Moffat actually trying to prove a point

I agree with a lot of the above eps being pretty solid - Blink, Mummy, Flatline, Dalek, The Girl Who Waited, Sleep No More. I would also tentatively add School Reunion to that, though it probably wouldn't appeal so much to a non-Buffy fan, and the initial Cybermen 2-parter was also solid, and perhaps Enter The Dalek too.

I would disagree with Day Of The Doctor - in my opinion it was shallow, self-promotion obsessed, empty, vacuous, pointless, smug, badly acted and written drivel. For me it's the epitome of shit Moffat-Who to parallel something like Sound Of Drums/Last Of The Time Lords, which is the epitome of shit RTD-Who (Death In Heaven being the epitome of shit TV, period!)

I didn't think School Reunion was anything special but I'd agree with it being on the list simply for showing a different side to Tennant's Doctor that was all too rare.

He was either too soppy or hyperactive, speaking really fast and running around yelling like a fool. It was nice to see an episode where he was mellow, just gathering information and investigating.

Oddly, I really liked Tennant at the Time but with hindsight, I do see all the criticisms.
