I actually think that's a bit of a myth. Hell I have a huge crush on Laci Green, one of the most famous feminists. If she was around I wouldn't give anyone else the time of day! I would agree though that a lot of feminists are quite angry, bitter and unhappy people like Cora Segal who was unfortunately nicknamed TrigglyPuff.
IMO feminists can be divided into three broad categories.
1/
Frauds, Liars and Bullies: The likes of Anita Sarkeesian, Caitlin Moran, and Rebecca Watson fall under this category.
These are the real cunts who have destroyed feminism. These people don't believe in any of the shit they spout. They know there is money to be had in feminism and phoney victimhood.
What would Anita Sarkeesian be doing if she wasn't whining about sexism? Have you ever seen an interview with Caitlin Moran where she doesn't whinge about how hard it is being a woman?
These people pick on things like video games, and sci fi because they know they are benign targets, and they can sucker young impressionable people into believing their lies about them, and suffer no repurcussions from it. They would never go after something like Islam meanwhile, that is genuinely sexist, as they might actually have to deal with some bad consequences from that (like Ayaan Hirsi Ali) and there isn't as much profit from that either.
They are cowards and bullies who go after vulnerable targets, but sadly as the mainstream media is on their side, they have influence the next generation of feminists into believing things like the gender wage gap, white male privilege, Islam is a feminist religion etc, because it benefits them. Male feminists who fall under this category are not only interested in cash, but also sex too. A classic example of this is Richard Carrier.

Those Suckered by the Liars: They can in turn be divided into two sub categores. Naive young people, and bitter angry people.
Claudia Boleyn and Emma Watson would fall under the naive young People part. I don't hate these feminists. I think they do actually believe in things like the gender wage gap, white male privilege, because the media they have been exposed to is on the side of the likes of Sarkeesian.
I think its worth debating with these feminists. Many of them like Claudia, are nice, reasonable people who will debate with you (unlike Sarkeesian who knows its bullshit but doesn't want her cash cow to end). Also you might just get through to them.
The angry, unhappy people meanwhile would include Cora Segal. These people are attracted to feminism, because like all cults it goes after the unhappy, and disatisfied and offers them all the "answers" for why they are unhappy.
However feminism I think ends up hurting these women. Look at Cora Segal. The woman is morbidly obese, but feminism tells her its not her fault, that you are healthy at any size, so she doesn't bother to lose weight, but at the same time, it doesn't actually make her feel happy with her weight either. It makes her feel like a victim, that all white men hate her for being overweight etc. It just makes her more angry and unhappy, and its a shame. Feminists like this can end up becoming radfems.
Male feminists who fall under this category are often self loathing men who feel guilty at having a penis like Steve Shives and Michael Moore. See here.

Reasonable Feminists: These feminists include the likes of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and Christina Hoff Sommers. They are the last remnants of a once great, socio and political movement.
These feminists deserve our respect as they are still fighting for women's rights around the world, at the risk of their own safety like Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
However the likes of Sarkeesian and Moran hate these feminists and try and discredit them. To start with the likes of Hommers will often call them out on their bullshit. Also the very existence of someone like Ali will shame them. Someone actually risking their life by going against Islam as opposed to you know criticising video games!
Thus they along with the rest of the cowardly left ( the left in general has been taken over by posers IMO) will slander these feminists as Islamophobes, MRA apologists, traitors to their sex, Alt Right.
Here is a woman Mayam Namazie who gave a talk on sexism in Islamic culture and was interrupted, even physically intimidated repeatedly by Islamic thugs. The feminists at that university actually took the side of the thugs!
