My theory is this series will actually turn out to be OK but will fall down on its arse within the last three or four episodes.
I'm sick of finales, just make episodes until the money runs out and then make another series next year.
But no. That's not how TV works these days.

Agreed, but I think a large part of that is probably because Bill is a lot better than Clara. More likable, better chemistry with Capaldi. Its a shame that she didn't join much earlier.

Only two episodes in and already light years ahead of Clara!

Tom's notion of a talking cabbage would have been better than Clara. Wink

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

To be fair though I did quite like Clara with 11, but SJW Clara in 12's era was the absolute worst.

Second decent episode, let's hope they manage to deliver something truly good this series. I was hoping Moffat would want to go out on a high and pull back, giving us another solid run like series 5, now I'm guessing it's going to be more along the lines of harmless and mildly enjoyable.

The plot reminded me a bit of that Torchwood episode where they kept a giant creature captive to carve chunks of meat from it. And was the Doctor's oath set up somewhere and I forgot about it or did they pull it out of their arse this year?

Next episode looks promising but again, is giving off a sense that they've already done something like it before.

And that's definitely Simm's Master knocking in the vault, right?

Decent episode. I liked the bits between Bill and the Doctor talking about whether he'd ever killed someone and the monster was great.

Not a classic but probably the best episode for a while.

An episode of two halves. But at least people died in this one!
A couple of series ago they wouldn't have.
And the oath must be a new thing. As long as the standard is kept up I'm not arsed.

The Doctor vaugely explained his oath to Bill last week...it's supposed to be a new thing for the audience too I beleive.

I enjoyed this one on first watch (it leaked early thanks to some muppet on i-tunes uploading it instead of Smile), the second watch left me slightly bored once all my favourite scenes played out. There's not much prescense from the monster and it could very well have been a historical with a few script amendments. Just have  it be about a crazy racist philantrophist luring the coloreds on to the ice and blow them up. Razz

Bill and The Doctor do have a good rapport, and Bill asking if he killed anyone and The Doctor initially dancing around the issue before coming clean made for a good spot, and then Bill calls back to his "moving on" to assure a child she's through arguing with him.

Not afraid to kill a kid, and The Doc giving less fs about it, was quite bold. Not sure how that'll go down with little ms. casual.

Dollard's two for two now. Good safe pair of hands.

6/10.

Not bad. Capaldi outstanding. Even if you don't like him, he has the ability to turn dirge into gold. The man's a script alchemist.

Bill. A mess. I'm not sure what or who she is. It seems to me she's whoever the writers want her to be right now.

Usual elevation of 'liberal' audience 're-education' above narrative realism. Meh.

They didn't say it was alien or not, IIRC, so technically it could still be a pure historical.

I'm sure it wouldn't be something as petty as this.

Although, elsewhere today I've heard that since this episode contained one white, Regency-era aristocrat who was a bit racist that this episode is just one instance of the weekly 'white bashing' that this show is doling out so I guess you can't guarantee the intelligence of every viewer.

Is it like Mary Sue?

I'm not offended at being called a sexist yet again (particularly since I know its in good humour) but one thing that does always interest me is the way that SJW's complain about the rest of us supposedly not being able to stand "evil wimminz" or black people in our favourite shows yet you NEVER watch any female led series (apart from porn in your case)

Seriously Penny what female led genre series do you like? Me I have in my DVD collection, all of Xena, Buffy, Charmed, Earth 2, Star Trek Voyager, Wonder Woman 70's series, Resident Evil film series, A Chinese Ghost Story 1, 2, 3, The Dead and the Dealy, The Bride With White Hair, 1 and 2, Terminator 1 and 2, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Alien film series, Tru Calling, Ghost Whisperer, Dollhouse, Nikita, even Relic Hunter!

You it seems meanwhile just like male led series like Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Inspector Gadget. I think a lot of you SJW's project onto other people when you accuse them of not liking anything starring women as you fear that applies to you.

By your logic if I'm a sexist so are you as you it seems like fewer female led shows than I the guy who apparently can't stand women on tv does. Either that or you just don't watch female led shows as you can't complain about how sexist they are.

And no I don't think most people considered this episode white bashing, but this gem from class is.

TANYA: White people.
APRIL: White people what?
TANYA: Always so optimistic. Always so certain things are going to work out for you. Oh, well, because they usually do.
APRIL: My dad tried to kill me when I was eight.
TANYA: But you got your mum up walking again. Typical white-person happy ending.

Ok so I'm still unclear as to what SJW stands for. I want to say Sarah Jane...Wonnicles?
I'm not big on female leads, I can't read most novels written by women, and the only female rocker I could ever take serious is Brody the chick from The Distillers, I guess because she reminds me of Ciourtney Love but with talent.
I usually can't get into movies with female leads...Except for Uma Thurman in Kill Bill and Sigourney Weaver in any Alien movie.
Am I sexist?
