As I've noted elsewhere there are real "trolls" of course but these days the term seems to be used for anyone people disagree with or is at odds with the fascist "consensus".

TBH I think people get too worked up about trolls. I speak from experience of course in getting too outraged at trolls. I am not saying they are not horrible people but the best thing to do is ignore them.

I remember a funny example with Lady Gaga. Now I like Lady Gaga. I fancy her, I like her music (though mostly her earlier stuff and her Tony Bennett album. Watch this duet she did with Tony and tell me she can't sing. https://youtu.be/ZPAmDULCVrU)

Anyway yeah when the backlash happened she got trolled and rather than think "I'm a millionaire fuck it" she whined about it on twitter. She'd write big things like this "WHAT HAVE I DONE TO PROVOKE SUCH HATRED. ALL I'VE EVER WANTED IS TO SPREAD MORE LOVE TO PEOPLE'S HEARTS!"

And of course when she wrote that she got like a million more troll tweets that were a million times more vicious LOL. It reminds me of that bit from Bottom Live 3 where Eddie mocks the heckler and Richie responds with "will you stop talking to the fucking fish!"

That's the only attitude you can take. "Being a sad troll is these people's crime. It is also their punishment."

I also agree with iank that troll is thrown around too fleetingly these days, much like fascist, sexist, racist, homophobic etc.

All true. If I had to justify why I think it's an interesting topic then I suppose it's the fascination of finding a cure for a problem that if it were possible to be fixed would make the internet and possibly life so much more enjoyable. But no such panacea exists.

Also, trying to understand the motivations. Like the woman in the video who says 'if you get wound up by trolls then you must be really insecure'. Oh, so that justifies it then?! That kind of absence of working logic is fascinating in a car crash kind of way.

I understand as it is at the end of the day bullying plain and simple. I definitely wouldn't want it to happen to me and for people who are vulnerable it can have a bad effect on them.

There is this tv host I have a huge crush on called Ferne McCann (its because she looks like Amy Winehouse lol talks exactly like her too it really is spooky) and she clearly has severe self esteem problems that were made worse by trolls online.

She always used to go on about how ugly her nose was. I never got it myself? I thought her nose was striking, and part of what made her more beautiful. Sadly however it bugged her as she had been bullied for it at school and on twitter people continued to bully her for it for years. They kept telling her she looked like a pelican, was hideous etc.

She eventually got a nose job because of it and TBH though her new nose is okay, I really wish she had kept the old one. https://youtu.be/-sb_EZM22Hg

Still whilst its a shame she did that, ultimately all you can say to these people is just ignore them. You let them win when you do things like that. They only do this shit to get a rise from people, and really people that make jokes about dead babies, call vulnerable women ugly, it really says more about them than those they go after.

Women's idea of an attractive woman is different from Men's idea of an attractive woman. It's kind of weird but not - if that make sense.

She seems quite attractive. Don't see a great difference myself. It's noticeable but wouldn't bother me either way. I quite like woman with slightly odd noses for some reasons but odd ears creep me out

We have mainstream media news sites closing their comments sections claiming it's due to "trolls", when actually it's just because more and more people are calling out their biased propaganda for the bullshit it often is. And they can't stand it.

I like Ferne a lot, pre and post nose job. Her nose job was well done. She still has the same shape of nose, but I do miss the bump that she got rid of. That was cute and gave her face a lot of character. I also think its a shame that she felt she had to change it because of the bullying she got when she was young and older. There was nothing even remotely wrong with how she looked and she seems like a nice person too. The only thing I've ever seen her on was I'm a Celeb. She was really nice on that.

I still want her to play Amy Winehouse in a film of her life too.

They couldn't be more alike! Same look, mannerisms, voice, personality, she'd be perfect. She'd be a lot better as Amy than Val Kilmer was as Jim Morrison or Christopher Eccelston was as John Lennon.

I think its true that women's idea of an attractive woman often differs. Like take Beyonce. Obviously I am not saying she is unattractive (I never comment on someone's looks in a negative way), but TBH I don't actually see that many men hold Beyonce up as a pin up. Ironically it seems to be more women that go on about how beautiful she is.

Then again it might be because Beyonce's personality is so utterly obnoxious it puts people off.

Its unbelievable that someone who looked like that would change her appearance cause she thought she was too ugly! Shows why you should never bother with what idiot trolls say online. They just say shit to get a rise out of you and they'll zero in on anything that you are insecure about so its best not to give them that ammunition. I guess she could look the part, but can she act and sing? I never saw her in TOWIE but I liked her in I'm a Celeb and it was a shame that even in the middle of a jungle full of dangerous animals the thing that made her break down was talking about her nose and bullies.

She apparently got a part in a play recently and a film. I haven't seen her act but I assume she can if she is getting jobs. Also whilst I have never seen TOWIE either, most people who have say its rather obviously staged (even though the producers claim its not)
